50th Anniversary of the
Golden Steer Steak ‘n Rib House

The Golden Steer Steak ’n Rib House was established in 1964 by long time Kent residents Don & Dar Raftis. At that time the original menu (which is still posted in their coffee shop area) boasted a “Burger Plate Special” including salad or soup and potatoes or fries for a whopping $1.00!
In 1999 Jim & Suzanne, along with close family friends Kelly & Janine Sturm, bought the restaurant. In keeping with the established theme of community involvement, they began many new traditions. Just a few of these are… an Annual Community Thanksgiving Feast, Historical Society’s Annual Fundraising Dinner Auction & Kent Food Bank’s Annual Fundraising Breakfast. school
